*The Way I Feel
by Janan Cain
‘The Way I Feel’ is a great addition to any child’s library. It’s a fun and playful rhyming story and it teaches about the basic emotions that all children experience. More importantly, it teaches that no emotions are bad and they are all a part of who we are.
Book Activity: Try reading this book with your child at the end of the day. With each feeling ask them if they can think of a time that day that they experienced that emotion. If they can’t think of anything try coming up with something for them. This is a wonderful way to practice feeling words, identify emotions and talk about how they dealt with their feelings that day…and perhaps what they could have done differently. This book also has a page at the end for extra ideas of how parents can use the book with more verbal children.
